Omar Abdullah says NC won’t compromise on IIOJK’s special status

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in a reference to special status, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said the National Conference (NC) would remain steadfast in its political ideology and would never sacrifice its principles for power, regardless of changing alliances at the national level.
According to Kashmir Media Service, responding to questions, Omar said NC’s political decisions are guided by its values and commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, not political expediency.“Political circumstances may change, but our principles remain unchanged.
The National Conference will not compromise its ideology or political legacy for any position or advantage,” he said during a visit to Bandipora district. Omar also interacted with public delegations that raised issues of roads, electricity, drinking water, healthcare and employment, and assured priority action.
Meanwhile, NC MP Mian Altaf Ahmad said holding a protest for restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood is a democratic right and affirmed the demonstration will be held as scheduled. He urged New Delhi to restore statehood without delay, calling it a democratic demand linked to public aspirations.
