Protesters, Indian forces clash during highway shutdown in volatile Manipur

Kangpokpi: At least three people were injured in a clash between protesters and Indian forces along highway in Manipur’s volatile Kangpokpi district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred in New Keithelmanbi area where Kuki civil society organisations had called an emergency shutdown of the Imphal-Jiribam highway to oppose ongoing military operations in the state.
Tensions escalated when forces personnel moved to clear the highway and disperse the crowd. Crowd-control measures including blank firing and smoke bombs were reportedly used. The Kuki Inpi South West Sadar Hills alleged that three individuals sustained critical injuries during the confrontation and urged the government to address concerns raised by the protesters.
