Two Muslim women held in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa for ‘possessing beef’
Rewa: Two Muslim women have been arrested in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh state of India after they were accused of carrying suspected beef and allegedly attacking a Bajrang Dal worker who attempted to stop them.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place yesterday near the Lohi canal in the Saman police station area, where reports of suspected beef led to tension and protests.
According to police and local accounts, the two women, identified as Muskan Khan and Sabra Khan, were allegedly carrying material suspected to be beef when a Bajrang Dal worker confronted them.
Police officials said after receiving information about the incident, a team rushed to the area and launched an investigation.
According to the allegations, the women threw the suspected meat into a nearby canal after the confrontation. Police subsequently recovered the material from the canal and took it into custody.
The seized material has been sent for laboratory examination.
Officials stressed that the identity of the meat has not yet been confirmed and that the investigation remains ongoing.
“The recovered material has been sent for testing. Further legal action will be taken based on the examination report and the findings of the investigation,” a police official said.
The two women were taken into custody and booked under relevant legal provisions. Authorities have not yet released detailed information regarding the specific charges.
The incident has also generated debate on social media, where some users questioned the focus on allegations of beef possession while India remains one of the world’s major exporters of buffalo meat and related products.
Officials said the forensic report will play a key role in determining the next course of action.
