Three men beat Muslim bike taxi driver to death over unpaid Rs 8,000 loan

New Delhi: A 23-year-old Muslim bike taxi driver from New Delhi’s Uttam Nagar was beaten to death by three men over an unpaid loan balance of Rs 8,000.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the taxi driver died after he was abducted and assaulted for hours over an unpaid loan balance of Rs 8,000. Police said the incident took place on June 26 in Delhi and registered a case against three accused.

The victim, Mohammed Uzaib, worked as a Rapido bike taxi driver and lived in Uttam Nagar. According to police, he had borrowed Rs 50,000 from one of the accused to meet expenses related to his wife’s delivery. He had repaid Rs 42,000 before the incident.

Police identified the accused as Sandeep, Lalit and Mohit.

According to investigators, the three men abducted Uzaib and took him to an isolated location in Najafgarh. Police said he was assaulted for nearly eight hours. He was beaten with sticks, attacked with a sharp object and suffered internal injuries.

His body was later dumped outside his family home in Uttam Nagar. Family members rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police said the accused had visited Uzaib’s house around 15 days before the incident and threatened to break his bones if the remaining amount was not repaid.

Uzaib was the sole earning member of his family after the death of his father. He is survived by his wife and newborn son.

His mother, Rabiya, expressed grief over the killing and said her son suffered throughout the night. His brother, Zaib, said the family never imagined the dispute would end in such violence.

Police said the investigation is continuing. Authorities have not confirmed whether the three accused have been taken into custody.
