Bajrang Dal supporters threaten Muslim meat vendors in Kolkata’s Jadavpur

Kolkata : Bajrang Dal members have threatened Muslim vendors to stop selling meat or relocate at the earliest in the Jadavpur area, Kolkata’s prominent suburban region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a video has surfaced on social media from Jadavpur, Kolkata, showing Bajrang Dal supporters issuing stern warnings in abusive and derogatory language and threatening Muslim meat vendors, asking them to either stop their business or relocate immediately.
Bajrang Dal members are seen questioning Muslim vendors, saying, “Why are you selling and slaughtering when the majority of Hindus reside here? Days of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are over. Stop selling halal. Leave this place at the earliest.”
The incident has sparked concerns amid reports of a sharp rise in hate crimes against the Muslim community in West Bengal following the BJP’s growing influence in the state.
At least 10 incidents of hate crimes were reported in May alone in West Bengal.
This triggered widespread condemnation and debate over communal tensions in the region.
The incident highlights rising religious polarization and political tensions following the growing influence of the BJP in West Bengal.
Hindutva groups are campaigning to ban halal meat in an attempt to isolate and restrict Muslim livelihoods.
