French authorities’ shameful crackdown on Khalistan Referendum activists to protect Modi
Islamabad: On June 17, 2026, French authorities carried out a shameful crackdown by detaining scores of Khalistan Referendum activists in pre-charge detention.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the arrests were timed precisely to stop the “Ambush Modi Politics” rally as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived for the G7 summit.
This wasn’t security; it was a calculated effort to shield Modi from peaceful protest and international scrutiny.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, General Counsel of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), and dozens of other activists who had travelled to France were rounded up by police.
Instead of upholding democratic rights, France bowed to Indian pressure and silenced voices demanding justice.
The “Ambush Modi Politics” campaign delivered a powerful message to G7 leaders, the international media, and the global public: Narendra Modi arrived in France at the head of an Indian regime that routinely engages in transnational repression and extraterritorial assassination operations targeting Khalistan activists in sovereign G7 nations.
SFJ swiftly retained a leading French law firm to defend the detained activists.
The legal team immediately demanded access to those held, challenged the legality of the detentions, and worked to protect the right to advocate for the Khalistan Referendum under French and international law.
The events of June 17 stood as a damning indictment of Modi’s state-sponsored violence, highlighting:
The assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar* * three years after Indian operatives murdered him on Canadian soil.
The suspicious death of Avtar Singh Khanda* in the UK, * carried out under the shadow of Indian deep-state operations.
The foiled murder-for-hire plot against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun * in *New York, for which an Indian RAW operative is wanted by the FBI.
The targeted assassination plot against UK-based Paramjeet Singh Pamma **, a Khalistan Referendum organizer, which was thwarted in the United Kingdom.
France’s decision to detain peaceful protesters on June 17, 2026, exposed the dangerous extent of India’s influence over democratic nations.
While Modi sought to project power, the crackdown only revealed his regime’s deep fear of truth and accountability.
The Khalistan movement’s determination remains unshaken — arrests and intimidation will not stop the demand for justice and self-determination.
The world saw India’s bullying tactics yet again.
