APHC-AJK delegation meets GB Governor Syed Mehdi Shah in Gilgit
July 19 Accession to Pakistan Day events, Kashmir situation discussed
Gilgit: A high-level delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, led by Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, called on Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Syed Mehdi Shah at Governor House in Gilgit, where the two sides held detailed discussions on preparations for the July 19 Accession to Pakistan Day events and the prevailing situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the meeting reviewed arrangements for the public rally and gathering to be held in Gilgit on July 19, with particular focus on ensuring maximum public participation and effectively highlighting the Kashmir dispute. The APHC delegation comprised General Secretary Advocate Parvez Ahmad Shah, Raja Khadim Hussain Shaheen, Syed Ejaz Rehmani, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Zahid Safi, Zahid Ashraf and Kausar Iqbal.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Muhammad Safi said the July 19, 1947 Accession to Pakistan Resolution symbolizes the historic resolve of the Kashmiri people and their unwavering bond with Pakistan. He said the people of all regions of the State of Jammu and Kashmir are entitled to their UN-recognized right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions.
Governor Syed Mehdi Shah said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan take pride in their historic, religious and national affiliation with the people of Kashmir and will continue their political, moral and diplomatic support for a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He added that the people of Pakistan and Gilgit-Baltistan stand with the Kashmiris in their just struggle for freedom.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to highlighting the Kashmir dispute more effectively and to observing Youm-e-Ilhaq-e-Pakistan with full fervor.
Meanwhile, another APHC-AJK delegation, also led by Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, met Leader of the Opposition in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, former Chief Minister and President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Gilgit-Baltistan, Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman.
The meeting discussed the latest situation in IIOJK, the Kashmir freedom movement, arrangements for the July 19 Accession to Pakistan Day rally in Gilgit, and ways to further highlight the Kashmir dispute at the national and international levels.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Muhammad Safi said July 19, 1947 marked a historic milestone in the Kashmiri people’s struggle when the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference adopted the resolution for the accession of the State of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan. He said the day symbolizes the historic, ideological and popular bond between the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan and is observed every year with great national enthusiasm.
Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman reaffirmed his party’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s just struggle for their UN-recognized right to self-determination. He said the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have always stood by their Kashmiri brethren in difficult times and will continue to do so in future. He added that the Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions to ensure lasting peace in South Asia.
He also assured that the Pakistan Muslim League (N) Gilgit-Baltistan would participate wholeheartedly in the July 19 Accession to Pakistan Day rally in Gilgit.
