Pakistan expresses serious concern over worsening situation in IIOJK

Islamabad: Pakistan has expressed serious concern over the worsening situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), condemning the continued human rights violations and the detention of Hurriyat leaders by the Indian authorities.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, addressing the weekly media briefing in Islamabad, said India continues to commit grave human rights violations in IIOJK while keeping Hurriyat leaders behind bars without justification.

He strongly condemned the filing of charge sheets against Hurriyat leaders, saying New Delhi is pursuing politically motivated and fabricated cases to suppress the genuine Kashmiri leadership.

The spokesperson called for the immediate withdrawal of all fabricated charge sheets against Kashmiri political prisoners and urged the international community to take notice of the ongoing atrocities against unarmed Kashmiris, persistent human rights violations and breaches of the Geneva Conventions.

Rejecting India’s allegations over the Pahalgam incident, Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan has categorically denied the accusations and continues to reject them.

He said India’s state repression in IIOJK and its interference in Pakistan reflect New Delhi’s growing frustration. He further said that India was sponsoring terrorism and subversive activities in Pakistan and other countries and urged the international community to take notice of its attempts to destabilize Pakistan.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmir cause, the spokesperson said the country is fully capable of defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity and will continue extending political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people at every level.
