IIOJK High Court upholds PSA of 2 youth on flimsy grounds

Srinagar,: The High Court in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has upheld the detention of two Kashmiri youth detained on the charge of being so-called Over Ground Workers under the draconian Public Safety Act.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Justice Sanjay Dhar upheld the PSA orders against Owais Muneer Bhat and Mohammad Shafi Naikoo. Bhat was detained by District Magistrate Srinagar on October 5, 2024, and Naikoo by District Magistrate Kupwara on July 14, 2025.

Despite having no evidence against the duo were not released citing that there was no ground to interfere with the detention orders against the two and dismissed their petitions. The court, however, quashed the PSA detention order against Zahid Ahmad Mir and directed his immediate release from preventive custody.
