Two Indians arrested in Nepal for series of theft incidents

Kathmandu: Nine people, including two Indian nationals, have been arrested in Nepal for involvement in a series of theft and looting incidents in the tourist city of Pokhara, police said.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a statement issued by the District Police Office in Gandaki province’s Kaski district said, the Indian nationals arrested were identified as Rahul Nishad, 23, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, and Somnath Jadav, 40, from Maharashtra.
Apart from them, two Chinese nationals and five Nepalese nationals were also taken into custody. Police said the group was involved in at least six incidents of theft and looting in Pokhara, a major tourist hub of the Himalayan nation.
Officials recovered nine mobile phones, a smartwatch, a laptop and 1.394 tola of gold ornaments, approximately 16.26 grams of gold, from their possession. A case has been registered against them under the Anti-Theft and Dacoit Act and further investigation is underway, police added.
