1 dead in Beerwah, shops, infrastructure damaged in IIOJK flash floods

Srinagar : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, one person was killed and several shops and public infrastructure were damaged after flash floods triggered by intense rainfall swept through Beerwah and adjoining areas of Budgam district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the deceased was identified as Shabbir Ahmad Poswal of Drang in Khag, who was swept away while attempting to cross a flooded nallah.
Officials said the Sukhnag River swelled rapidly after over 100 mm of rainfall was recorded in the upper catchment around TosaMaidan. Beerwah bore the brunt as floodwaters inundated residential and commercial areas. The Municipal Shopping Complex near the bus stand suffered significant damage, with several shops inundated or washed away.
Public infrastructure was also hit, with breaches in embankments along the Sukhnag. The Sukhnag diversion at Beerwah was washed away and a newly constructed bridge sustained structural damage.
