Rahul Gandhi steps up attack on Modi govt over NEET controversy, student crackdown
Says 154 paper leaks without a single conviction under BJP govt

New Delhi : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has intensified his attack on the BJP-led Indian government over the NEET paper leak controversy and the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led student movement, saying that 154 examination paper leaks had occurred over the past decade without a single conviction.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Rahul Gandhi, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, strongly criticized the Modi government over the police crackdown on protesting students and reiterated his demand for the resignation of Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Questioning the use of force against students, Gandhi said, “What have these students done? They are protesting peacefully and asking for what this country owes them. Why are Indian forces pointing weapons at them?”
He said the Opposition’s demands were “non-negotiable” and announced that opposition leaders would meet on Thursday (today) to decide the future course of the agitation.
“The government wants to sweep this issue under the carpet, but we want Dharmendra Pradhan to resign, the Prime Minister to apologize, and the education system to be reformed,” he said.
Referring to injuries he sustained during Tuesday’s protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence, Gandhi said it was “a huge honour” to suffer while expressing the will of the people.
“My job is to express the will of the people. These are small costs,” he remarked.
