Indian forces continue massive CASOs, house raids and frisking across IIOJK
Srinagar: Indian forces’ personnel have continued massive cordon and search operations (CASOs), house raids and frisking across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) amid an intensified crackdown in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian Army, paramilitary and police personnel carried out search operations at the residences of Hurriyat activists in Srinagar, Islamabad, Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian and Sopore, while frisking people at various locations and establishing additional checkpoints across the Kashmir Valley.
The intensified so-called security measures come a day after Indian forces blasted two residential houses and arrested nearly 3,500 Kashmiris during large-scale raids across the occupied territory. The detainees, whom Indian police described as suspected Over-Ground Workers (OGWs), are being interrogated at multiple detention centres.
During the house raids and search operations, Indian forces harassed family members and damaged household belongings in several areas, causing fear and distress among local residents.
Movement of people and vehicles is being closely monitored, with additional checkpoints set up on major roads, highways and entry points to towns and cities. Indian troops are conducting thorough searches of vehicles, including car boots and two-wheelers, besides frisking pedestrians, particularly in Srinagar, Islamabad, Baramulla, Budgam, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian districts.
A spokesperson for the CRPF Srinagar Sector said security across the Kashmir Valley had been placed on high alert, adding that surveillance had been intensified, checkpoints strengthened and search operations expanded.
A Srinagar police official also confirmed that coordinated raids and frisking drives are continuing across the Valley.
