5th August among most tragic, illegal days in Kashmir’s history: APHC

Calls for complete strike, observance of Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir as Black Day

Srinagar : The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that 5th August is one of the most illegal, unconstitutional, tragic, painful and catastrophic days in the modern history of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar said on 5th August 2019, the Indian BJP/RSS regime, in flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions, scrapped the special status of IIOJK and deprived its people of all basic rights. The APHC appealed to the Kashmiri people to observe a complete strike and mark August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, a Black Day.

It said 5th August was the day when the Indian BJP regime, with all its military might, black laws, resources and institutions, attacked Kashmir and usurped the basic rights, including the identity, of the Kashmiri people. The APHC also urged Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world to organize protests, rallies and other programs to draw the attention of the world community to the unabated Hindutva terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Terming Kashmir a “gigantic prison” and the “world’s largest torture cell,” the spokesman said every inch of Kashmir is dotted with trigger-happy troops and that Kashmir has been reeling under constant siege for the past six years. The APHC said the immoral and unconstitutional act of August 5 by the BJP regime has impacted every walk of life and caused losses of billions of dollars to the Kashmir economy.

The unending lockdown, it said, has shattered the already fragile economy of Kashmir and deprived thousands of Kashmiris of their livelihood and jobs.“The Indian BJP government, parliament, its one million troops, dozens of intelligence institutions, intelligence agencies and even its anti-Muslim and pro-Hindu judiciary have joined hands to subjugate Kashmiris and make Kashmir part of Hindu Rashtra,” the APHC lamented.

The APHC urged the Indian government to release all illegally detained Kashmiri leaders, activists and youth languishing in different jails of IIOJK and India. It is to be mentioned that on August 5, 2019, the Modi-led Hindutva government abrogated Kashmir’s special status and divided it into two union territories, besides imposing a military siege in the territory.
