Landslide blocks Kargil–Leh highway, traffic suspended

Srinagar: Vehicular movement on the Kargil–Leh highway remained suspended on Thursday due to a landslide near Akchamal in Kargil district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a large quantity of mud, rocks and debris came down onto the highway following heavy rainfall, completely disrupting traffic between Kargil and Leh.
Officials said traffic would remain suspended until the road is cleared and declared safe for movement. Authorities have advised commuters and transport operators to avoid travelling on the Kargil–Leh highway until further orders and to check the latest traffic advisories before undertaking any journey.
