Democratic expression faces curbs in IIOJK, Tarigami slams Delhi
Srinagar : CPI-M leader MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has criticised the BJP-led India government over the August 5, 2019 constitutional changes, saying that political activity and democratic expression in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir continue to face restrictions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a post on X, Tarigami described the 2019 decisions as a “systematic assault” on the relationship between India and IIOJK. He also expressed concern over the delay in restoration of full statehood despite the mandate given in the 2024 Assembly elections.
Tarigami said the government was using “strong-arm methods” to restrict dissent and press freedom in the territory.
