Students continue protest against recruitment irregularities in Jharkhand
Protesters demand transparency and reforms in selection process
Ranchi: The protest by students and job aspirants against irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) recruitment examinations entered its 14th day, with the agitation drawing growing support from student organizations across the state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi gathered momentum as representatives of multiple student groups joined the demonstrators in support of their demands for transparency and reforms in the recruitment process.
Led primarily by JPSC aspirants, the agitation has intensified over the past two weeks. Despite continuous rainfall, the protesters remained at the venue and vowed to continue their sit-in until the government addressed their demands.
Student leader Devendra Mahto continued his indefinite hunger strike, while other protesters stayed at the demonstration site despite adverse weather conditions.
The students said rain would not weaken their resolve and pledged to continue their campaign against alleged recruitment irregularities until meaningful action was taken.
The protesting students said that authorities were allowing corruption to flourish in the education and recruitment system adding that bribery had become deeply entrenched in the state’s recruitment process. “Those involved are taking bribes to build houses, buy cars, and accumulate wealth,” they said.
They said the prolonged uncertainty over recruitment examinations had jeopardized the future of thousands of young aspirants who had spent years preparing for government jobs.
