Quetta: Hassan Al-Banna briefs Pakistan lawyers on IIOJK situation, rights violations
Quetta: Leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter Hassan Al-Banna briefed Pakistan’s lawyers’ leadership and prominent legal experts on the latest situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the ongoing atrocities committed by Indian forces against unarmed Kashmiris.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Hassan Al-Banna held the meeting in Quetta at the invitation of the Balochistan Bar Council. Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Bar Council and Supreme Court Advocate Rahib Khan Buledi, renowned lawyer Ali Ahmed Kurd and other representatives of the legal fraternity attended the meeting.
Hassan Al-Banna said that the Kashmiri people were enduring severe hardships, restrictions and widespread human rights violations under Indian occupation. He said thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders and activists, lawyers, students and journalists, remained illegally imprisoned in Indian jails, where they were denied basic facilities, including medical care, and adequate opportunities to pursue their cases.
He said India was also targeting Kashmiri human rights defenders and had severely curtailed freedom of expression press freedom in the occupied territory.
Hassan Al-Banna urged Pakistan’s legal fraternity, particularly lawyers in Balochistan, to highlight the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and the plight of Kashmiri detainees at international legal forums.
He thanked Rahib Khan Buledi and Ali Ahmed Kurd for their support and expressed hope that Pakistan’s legal community would further intensify its role in supporting the Kashmir cause.
