Actor Prakash Raj says his name deleted from electoral roll in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Actor and former Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha candidate Prakash Raj has revealed that his name was removed from Karnataka’s electoral rolls during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a video shared on social media, Raj said he was among those whose voter rights had been deleted in Bengaluru. “I was born in this constituency, I lived here, had my schooling, college, theatre and was also an MP candidate from here in 2019,” he said.`
Raj said he would check the documents required to restore his name. “Let me see what is the process I have to go through. What all documents do I have to show to get back my voter ID? Well, game on,” he remarked.
His comments come amid concerns over the large number of voters classified under ASDDO — Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others — during Karnataka’s roll revision. According to the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer, 1.09 crore voters, or 19.81% of the state’s 5.54 crore electors, fall under ASDDO, with Bengaluru Urban recording the highest at around 17.74 lakh.
The Election Commission has set August 17 as the deadline for completing the enumeration phase.
