Tribal rights under systematic attack in IIOJK during BJP regime: Adivasi Congress
Jammu: All India Adivasi Congress has said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its government are ignoring the basic rights and identity of Aadivasis .
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a press conference in Jammu, the Adivasi Congress leaders took strong exceptions to the rejections of 39,898 claims under Forest Rights Act (FRA)- 2006 in Kashmir out of total 46242 claims during the past six years as pointed out in the report of the Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs early this month.
“Only 6172 claims have been approved which shows the false claims in the publicity claimed by BJP leaders over the implementation of FRA in J&K after August 2019,” said AICC National Co-ordinator Ritu Meena.
The Congress leaders demanded that the FRA be implemented in letter and spirit and rights to the eligible families to be conferred without delay.
They said the authorities are continuously neglecting 100 percent Tribal population of Rajouri-Poonch and other Tribal areas in the matter of connectivity, development, schooling, health and infrastructure facilities and demanded a special plan with focus on Tribal inhabited areas.
Ritu Meena regretted that despite being a large population of Adivasis who are more than 10 crores in the country, the Prime Minister Home Minister and Tribals Minister did not extend greetings to the Adivasi population on the occasion of International Adivasis Diwas on August 9 this year which is celebrated as a festival of the identity, culture, glorious heritage, pride and rights of the Adiwasis.
