Indian forces continue cordon-and-search operations in IIOJK

Srinagar: Indian forces continued cordon-and-search operations in different districts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to the Kashmir Media Service, Indian forces launched search operations in forest areas near the Udhampur-Kathua border in the Billawar forests yesterday following reports of suspicious movement.
Kathua Superintendent of Police (Operations) Pritpal Singh said that such routine operations are carried out to maintain vigilance in the border areas.
In Reasi, Indian forces launched a cordon and search operation in remote areas of Pouni following reports of suspicious movement. The forces’ personnel are conducting searches to trace the suspected individuals and ascertain their identity and movement,” Indian police officer told media men.
In Srinagar, Indian forces also launched a search operation involving shops and parked vehicles around Lal Chowk and other areas as part of a so-called security exercise. Sniffer dogs were deployed during the operation to assist Indian paramilitary personnel in examining vehicles and surrounding areas.
Indian forces’ personnel have also been deployed along the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway, where dozens of temporary checkpoints have been established and surveillance has been intensified.
Meanwhile, Indian forces continued cordon-and-search operations launched on August 17 and August 18 at several places following reports of the movement of suspected persons in Udhampur, Reasi, Kathua and Samba districts of the territory.
