Baramulla lawyers join Sopore protest against bureaucratic misconduct

Srinagar: Growing resentment is emerging among the legal fraternity in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir against disrespectful and high-handed attitude of the India-installed bureaucracy towards members of the legal profession.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Bar Association Baramulla has extended solidarity to the Bar Association Sopore and joined its protest over the misconduct and disrespectful behaviour of Tehsildar Sopore towards local legal fratenity.
The Bar Association Baramulla expressed support for the Sopore legal fraternity, stressing that the dignity, respect and rights of lawyers must be protected and that administrative officials are required to maintain professional conduct while dealing with members of the Bar.
The development comes amid an ongoing protest by the Sopore Bar, which has been demanding appropriate action against the Tehsildar over the misconduct.
The growing support for the Sopore Bar reflects increasing concern within the legal fraternity over the conduct of the bureaucracy and disregard for established norms of institutional respect. The Baramulla lawyers’ decision to join the protest has also demonstrated solidarity among lawyers across the district.
The lawyers maintained that respect for the legal profession and the independence and dignity of judicial institutions are essential for the rule of law.
