Kishtwar observes complete shutdown, demands justice for minor girl
Jammu: A complete shutdown was observed in Kishtwar district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir against rape and death of a minor girl.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the shutdown was called following the death of a 14-year-old schoolgirl from the Chatroo area, who was raped and subsequently died. People demanded justice and stringent action against those responsible.
Shops and other business establishments remained closed as people expressed outrage over the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death and called for accountability in the case.
The case has triggered allegations of repeated sexual abuse of the girl by a government school teacher, followed by an forced or attempted termination of pregnancy that led to a critical deterioration in her health.
The strike reflected growing public anger over the death, with protesters seeking justice for the girl and stronger measures to ensure the safety and protection of children.
Meanwhile, a group staged a protest in south Islamabad against the recent hike in electricity tariffs, demanding its withdrawal. The protesters raised slogans against the government and called for the tariff increase to be rolled back, saying higher electricity charges would place an additional burden on consumers.
The protesters urged the administration to reconsider the decision and provide relief to households already facing rising living costs.
