Daily wagers hold protest in Srinagar, demand regularisation

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, members of the Jammu and Kashmir Casual Daily Wagers Forum (JKCDF) on Tuesday staged a protest at Press Enclave in Srinagar, demanding regularisation of their services.

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing the protesters, JKCDF President Sajad Ahmed Parray said the committee formed for regularisation should submit its report at the earliest, as promised by the authorities.

“The authorities should take the matter forward and resolve our issues. They promised regularisation and we want them to fulfil the promise,” he said.

Parray said a 16-minute film highlighting the struggles and hardships of daily wagers would be released at Tagore Hall in Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon.

He added that the forum would also hold a protest at a park in Srinagar on September 10.

“We will continue our peaceful struggle until the government addresses the long-pending demand of daily wagers,” he said.
