Educated youth in IIOJK being exploited economically

Srinagar : India has been exploiting illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for decades, with medical interns forced to take to the streets for the past six days as the occupation administration has frozen their monthly stipend at $128 for the past seven years.

According to Kashmir Media Service, trainee doctors in the occupied territory earn about $4 per day after working 18 hours, which is far less than the daily wage of a labourer. This is less than half the monthly salary ($245) paid to trainee doctors in Delhi hospitals, while interns working the same shifts during rural deployments in Odisha and West Bengal are paid about $460 per month. This is not an isolated incident, but part of a systematic and ongoing pattern of Indian oppression.

In occupied Jammu and Kashmir, assistant professors with PhD degrees and recruited through “NET” are paid about $10 per day, while assistant professors in Delhi University are paid $520 per month.

In contrast, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, medical interns are paid about $231 per month, while assistant professors on contract with PhD degrees are paid about $400 per month.

In short, from the hospital ward to the university lecture hall, the highly educated youth and professionals of occupied Jammu and Kashmir are being given the same message that their degrees have no value in India and if they move to Delhi, Odisha or Pakistan, they get paid three to four times more for doing the same kind of work.
