New Delhi: Tight security ahead of BRICS Summit
15,000 police personnel, 200 paramilitary companies deployed

New Delhi: Massive security arrangements have been made for the BRICS summit taking place in the Indian capital, New Delhi, with 15,000 police personnel and 200 companies of paramilitary forces being deployed.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a senior police officer informed the media that over 500 CCTV cameras have been installed to bolster security in New Delhi for the summit. These include high-resolution and specialized surveillance cameras, as well as 2K cameras, facial recognition systems, and cameras capable of reading vehicle number plates. All cameras have been linked to a central monitoring room.
Special Commissioner of Police (Protective/Security Division) Manish Kumar Agrawal said the Delhi Police are collaborating with various government agencies for the summit, and a detailed review of all key routes designated for the movement of visiting delegations has already been conducted.
Security forces will be deployed on a large scale to manage law and order, security, and traffic. Strict surveillance and security measures have also been implemented at the summit’s main venue, Bharat Mandapam.
The BRICS summit is scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam on September 12 and 13; however, traffic restrictions due to the movement of foreign delegations and dignitaries have been in effect since September 10 and will continue until approximately September 14.
Bharat Mandapam is located on Mathura Road within the Pragati Maidan complex in New Delhi. Security, surveillance, and emergency response measures have been further tightened at the hotels designated for the accommodation of foreign leaders.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in India on Friday morning to attend the BRICS summit. Chinese President Xi Jinping is also expected to participate in the 18th BRICS summit.
