Massive withdrawal of global investors from India

$25b pulled out of Indian stock market

New Delhi: India, which until recently was counted among the world’s most attractive investment markets, has now become Asia’s least favoured market as global investors have withdrawn approximately $25 billion from the Indian stock market.

A report by the global financial publication, Bloomberg, reveals that global investors have pulled out around $25 billion from India’s stock market. As a result of this massive outflow of foreign capital, foreign investment in Indian stocks has dropped to its lowest level in seventeen years. Alongside this capital withdrawal, the Indian currency is also facing severe pressure.

The Indian rupee is continuously losing value against the dollar and has hit a new record low. The Indian rupee is currently considered the worst-performing currency in Asia and the one under the most pressure, causing deep concern within the country’s financial markets.
