According to Kashmir Media Service, India has faced strong criticism on social media over the conduct of its officials and the sharing of fake and AI-generated images by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.

Modi’s fake narrative of strength and success stands exposed: Analysts

Social media users strongly criticized the conduct of the Indian officials, describing it as a breach of diplomatic etiquette.

Indian journalist Ashok Swain also criticized the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, saying that instead of improving the country’s international image, the ministry was busy securing awards for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and enjoying free food.

Meanwhile, the sharing of fake and AI-generated images by BJP leaders in connection with the BRICS Summit has also come under scrutiny. Some images shared on social media showed former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi attending the BRICS Summit, despite the fact that he died in a helicopter crash in May 2024.

The episode has raised questions over the conduct of Indian officials and the use of misleading social media content by ruling-party leaders at an important international diplomatic forum such as BRICS.
