Mirwaiz, Agha Hassan, DFP express concern over reports of drone attack near Makkah

Urge preservation and protection of sanctity of holy sites under all circumstances

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed concern over reports of a drone attack near Makkah, saying the incident has caused anxiety and concern among Muslims across the world.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz, in a post on X, said that the Middle East region is already facing a prolonged conflict, and, therefore, all parties should exercise restraint and immediately return to dialogue and diplomacy.

Meanwhile, senior Hurriyat leader and president of Anjuman Sharie Shian, Agha Syed Hassan Moosavi Al-Safavi, in a statement in Srinagar, also expressed deep concern over the drone attack near Makkah, stressing that the sanctity and protection of Islamic holy sites must be preserved under all circumstances.

He said Makkah and Madina are part of the spiritual heritage of the entire Muslim Ummah and that any act threatening or undermining their sanctity is unacceptable. He called for restraint, responsible conduct and an impartial determination of the facts, and warned against allowing the holy cities to become entangled in military confrontations, political disputes or competition over regional interests. Agha Syed Hassan urged all parties to exercise restraint and ensure that the sanctity and respect of the Haramain Sharifain are upheld at all times.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal, in a statement issued in Srinagar, strongly condemned the reported drone attack towards Makkah, saying that the sanctity, dignity and security of the Haramain Sharifain are matters of faith and belief for the entire Muslim Ummah.

He said Makkah is at the heart of Muslim world and that any form of aggression towards it is unacceptable.

He said Muslims, wherever they may be, cannot accept any compromise on the security and sanctity of the Haramain Sharifain. Such incidents that put holy sites at risk not only hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims but also pose serious threats to peace and stability in the region.

Advocate Arshad Iqbal described the joint defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye as a timely and important development in the prevailing sensitive circumstances, saying that the Muslim world needs to stand together, rising above mutual differences. He said promoting joint security, mutual cooperation and solidarity among Islamic countries is the need of the hour.

He further said that the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir have long suffered the effects of conflict, violence and insecurity and therefore support peace, protection of human lives, respect for the sanctity of religious sites and adherence to international principles in every part of the world.

He urged the international community, particularly Muslim countries, to prioritize dialogue and diplomacy instead of allowing the prevailing tensions to escalate into further confrontation.
