9 charred to death in massive bus fire in UP

Lucknow : At least nine persons, including a woman, were charred to death and several others suffered serious burns after a double-decker sleeper bus caught fire in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh.
According to Kashmir Media Service, more than 30 passengers were travelling on the bus from Noida to Mahoba when the fire broke out within the jurisdiction of Jewar police station.
The incident triggered panic among passengers, many of whom broke window panes and jumped out to save themselves.
Preliminary investigation suggests the fire originated from a spark or blast in the bus’ air-conditioning system, which ignited the engine’s lubricating oil and spread rapidly.
Officials said two persons, including the driver and conductor, have been taken into custody and a case has been registered under relevant sections
