Kupwara residents rue lack of basic amenities, health facilities
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, residents of Kupwara have complained of lack of basic amenities and healthcare facilities in the district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, residents of Yemlar village in Rajwar area said the 3-km road connecting the village with Zachaldara is dotted with potholes despite repeated requests for macadamisation. They also complained of erratic power supply with unscheduled cuts and hike in tariff, and shortage of potable water as the decades-old pipeline is damaged.
The residents questioned why the village has not been covered under Jal Jeevan Mission.
Meanwhile, residents of snowbound Keran demanded posting of a gynaecologist in the area, saying pregnant women are forced to travel over 60 km to Kupwara for specialist care. The area remains cut off for days during heavy snowfall when the Kupwara-Keran road is blocked.
Residents said they have sought deputation of a gynaecologist at least twice a week but in vain.
