Indian forces continue cordon-and-search operations across IIOJK
Repeated raids deepen fear and insecurity among Kashmiri population

Srinagar: Indian forces continued cordon-and-search operations across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The troops launched an operation in Mukaam Cherhar, Baramulla district, on Saturday. The operation continued thereafter.
FIR at Baramulla station under UAPA
Indian forces claimed to have recovered cache of arms, ammunition. The recovery reportedly took place during a search in the Mukaam Cherhar forest area.
Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) at Bomai police station. The case invokes the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Arms Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
Explosives detected in Poonch
In Poonch district, Indian forces detected and destroyed explosives in Basoni Top. Forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) contain landmines laid by Indian forces.
Heavy rainfall can wash away mines, exposing them in areas near local communities. This can create potential risks for residents.
Search operations continue in Reasi
In Reasi district, Indian forces continued searches in the Thakrakote area. The operation followed reports of suspicious movement overnight on October 9–10.
Earlier, on October 4, the Indian Army and paramilitary forces conducted intensive searches. The operations covered villages and adjoining forests in Rajouri and Udhampur districts.
On September 28 and 29, Indian forces conducted joint searches in Rajouri, Poonch and Kathua
Repeated searches heighten civilian concerns
Cordon-and-search operations, frisking and questioning have become routine across the occupied territory. Their repeated conduct has heightened fear and insecurity among local residents.
Observers say such measures reinforce Indian forces’ control over the territory. They also argue that the operations discourage people from opposing human rights violations. Critics link these practices to the anti-Kashmir policies of India’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.
The recurring operations also raise concerns about civilians’ safety and daily lives. Kashmiris continue to seek respect for their fundamental rights and a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
