Ganderbal school in crisis; 12-year-old construction project remains incomplete
Srinagar: The Government High School in Waliwar, Ganderbal district, is in the midst of a severe infrastructure crisis due to an incomplete construction project that has stretched over 12 years.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the prolonged delay has resulted in unsafe learning conditions, posing significant risks to students’ health and well-being.
Residents have voiced their frustration, noting that despite numerous promises and assurances from the authorities, the project remains unfinished. The incomplete building structure lacks essential amenities, compromising the quality of education and endangering students’ safety.
“We have raised this issue with higher authorities multiple times, but no action has been taken,” said a concerned local. The teachers at the school are also critical of the lack of adequate accommodation. Their repeated pleas have gone unheard, and they continue to work hard to provide the best education to the children despite the challenging conditions. “In an era of technological innovations, students here are deprived of even basic facilities,” a teacher remarked.
Local residents have also expressed their concern and frustration over the prolonged delay, demanding immediate attention from the authorities to complete the project.
“The authorities must take prompt action to address this issue and ensure the completion of the project, providing a safe and conducive learning space for the students of Government High School in Waliwar,” a local community leader urged.
