IIOJK Deputy CM asserts right to statehood, special status
Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary has reaffirmed the commitment to restoring the territory’s statehood and special status, emphasizing that these measures are crucial to safeguard the rights of the citizens, particularly their access to land and jobs.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to the media during an event in Jammu, Choudhary stated, “We will get statehood; that is our right. It is the right of all of us. We are raising this issue at every forum. We will also get special status to protect our jobs and lands.” His comments underline the ongoing demand for the restoration of IIOJK’s special status, which was illegally revoked by the BJP-led Indian government in August 2019.
Responding to questions about the current political structure in IIOJK, Choudhary addressed concerns regarding the lack of power within the NC-led government due to the presence of a dual power structure. He emphasized the government’s resolve, saying, “Let me tell you, whether we have power or not, this government will live up to the expectations of the people. We have a mandate for five years, and we will accomplish what others could not in ten years.”
