Kashmiris suffer relentlessly under Indian draconian rule in IIOJK

Srinagar: The suffering of Kashmiris under Indian occupation remains relentless in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as brutalities by Indian forces have become a daily reality.
According to a Kashmir Media Service report, nocturnal raids, cordon-and-search operations, and systematic harassment are routine in the highly militarized territory, further intensifying since the Modi-led government revoked IIOJK’s special status on August 5, 2019.
During this period, Indian troops have killed 949 Kashmiris and injured over 2,453, the report highlights.
The atrocities add to decades of violence, with over 96,382 Kashmiris martyred by Indian forces between January 1989 and November 2024. In addition to killings, new colonial tactics such as the sacking of Muslim employees and confiscation of properties have been employed to suppress dissent and alter the region’s demographic composition.
The report underscores that thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders and activists, remain illegally detained in Indian jails under draconian laws, further amplifying the territory’s plight. The Modi regime’s actions in IIOJK have been described as war crimes, with Indian forces shattering all records of cruelty.
The report urged the global community to break its silence over the atrocities and support the struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination. “The Modi regime must be held accountable for its crimes against humanity in IIOJK,” the report concluded.
