Int’l NGOs exposed India’s escalating HR abuses at 60th UNHRC session

Geneva: International Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) exposed India’s escalating human rights abuses and systemic failures at the 60th United Nations Human rights Council (UNHRC) session in Geneva in September–October 2025.

According to Kashmir Media Service, NGOs highlighted India’s negligence in Tamil Nadu rally deaths and repression of Muslims in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), exposing systematic violations of human rights and secular principles.

The Society for Development and Community Empowerment, Nigeria, highlighted the catastrophic Tamil Nadu political rally on September 27, 2025, where negligence and state indifference led to the deaths of 41 people and injuries to over 100, reflecting India’s chronic disregard for public safety and accountability.

Concurrently, International Action for Peace and Sustainable Development condemned India’s oppressive crackdown in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where peaceful faith-based campaigns were violently suppressed, arbitrary FIRs were filed, and Muslims faced arrests solely for practising their religion.

These interventions challenged India’s claims of secularism and equality, exposing a persistent pattern of religious, political, and civil repression.

Presented at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, the NGOs’ statements intensified global scrutiny, revealing the human cost of India’s authoritarian policies and its systematic violations of international human rights norms which has badly affected India’s global reputation.
