CIK files chargesheet against husband-wife duo for social media posts

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Counter Intelligence Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against Dr. Umer Farooq Butt and his wife Shahzada Akther of posting pro-freedom posts on social media.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the couple is accused of supporting Dukhtaran-e-Millat and uploading pro-freedom content. The husband and wife face charges under the draconian laws Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
CIK ridiculously claimed that the accused through social media posts tried to create a threat to India’s security and distort public order.
“Such activities posed a serious threat to peace, tranquility, and the sovereignty and integrity of the nation. Upon culmination of the investigation, sufficient evidence has been collected substantiating the involvement of both accused persons in the commission of offences punishable under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,” it said.
However, legal experts have dismissed the allegations as absurd, stating that sharing pro-freedom views on social media does not constitute a threat to India as Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory under international law and its political future is yet to be decided.
The chargesheet has been filed before the court for judicial determination.
