Man killed in Manipur attack; Security personnel assault ambulance Crew

Imphal: Amid continuing unrest in Manipur, a Tangkhul man was shot dead in a suspected militant ambush along National Highway-202, while ambulance staff alleged they were assaulted by security personnel during an emergency response.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the victim, a resident of Tashar village in Ukhrul district, was travelling from Imphal to Ukhrul when unidentified armed assailants opened fire near T.M. Kasom village. He died on the spot and three vehicles were damaged. An attempt is being made to blame Kuki militants, but though there is no proof of their involvement.
In a separate incident, the All Manipur Private Ambulance Owners Association said that security personnel assaulted ambulance staff transporting a ventilator-supported patient. Kangleicha Ambulance Service proprietor Romen Yendrembam said staff were lathi-charged, slapped, and one was struck with a stick. “We were trying to save a life, but our staff were lathi-charged,” he said.
