Bangladeshi national killed in BSF firing along India-Bangladesh border

Agartala, : A 26-year-old Bangladeshi national was killed after personnel of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place near Kailashahar in Unakoti district during an operation launched by the BSF against suspected cross-border smuggling activities.
Officials said the Bangladeshi national sustained fatal injuries in the firing and died on the spot. Following the incident, authorities initiated an inquiry to ascertain the circumstances that led to the use of force.
Security has been tightened in the border area, while the body of the deceased was later handed over to Bangladeshi authorities after a flag meeting between officials of the two sides.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the recurring use of force by Indian border troops along the India-Bangladesh frontier.
