LAB, KDA call for Ladakh strike on Tuesday against Delhi’s delay tactics

Leh: The Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance have called for a complete shutdown across Ladakh on Tuesday (June 23), saying that New Delhi is “buying time” on key political demands.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the call was announced after a joint core committee meeting of LAB and KDA, attended by activist Sonam Wangchuk. All business establishments and commercial activities will remain shut.

Leaders said the shutdown reflects growing frustration after the May 22 sub-committee meeting in New Delhi failed to show progress on demands including constitutional safeguards on the lines of Articles 371A, 371G and 371F, and protection of land, jobs and local governance rights.

LAB Chairman Lukruk Shreing Dorjey said Ladakhis had hoped their concerns would find reflection in official records, but were disappointed.

“The (Modi) government’s tactics are not good. They are buying time and their intentions do not appear good. We will not remain silent,” he said.MP Haji Hanifa Jan, Asghar Karbalai, Sajad Kargili and other senior leaders endorsed the bandh call.
