Ram Temple donation scam: Congress slams BJP, RSS
BJP's politics is based on "vote theft, seat theft and donation theft", Jairam Ramesh
New Delhi,:The main opposition party in India, the Indian National Congress, has slammed the Hindutva Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh over the alleged scam in the donation of the controversial Ram Temple to be built on the site of the demolished Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, while talking to the media in New Delhi, said the alleged donation scam in the Ram temple is a product of the BJP and RSS ecosystem. He said the criminal silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated the temple, and Home Minister Amit Shah on this serious issue is raising many questions.
Jairam Ramesh further said BJP’s politics is based on three points, “vote theft, seat theft and donation theft”. He said the theft of donations worth thousands of crores of rupees collected in the Ram temple is a very serious matter and its investigation should be conducted under the supervision of a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.
He said the recent statement of the RSS on this issue is very sad and shameful. He also questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and said the BJP leadership, which took political credit for the construction and inauguration of the Ram temple, should also answer on this issue.
He said most of the responsible persons of Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust are associated with BJP and RSS, hence the claim of ignorance of the top leadership cannot be believed.
It may be noted that an FIR was registered in the donation scam case on June 25 after the initial report of the Special Investigation Team constituted by the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, eight people have been arrested, so far, and about Rs 80 lakh in cash and foreign currency have been recovered, while the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
