IIOJK: Internet suspended across Doda after killing of youth

Jammu: The authorities have suspended internet services across Doda district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) following the killing of a youth by Indian forces in the Bhaderwah area of the district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, internet services have been snapped in Doda town, Bhaderwah, Bhalesa, Thatri and other areas as part of what the authorities described as a “precautionary security measure.”

Officials said internet services had been completely suspended across the entire district.

The suspension comes after personnel of the Indian police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) martyred a youth, identified as Arif Hussain, after opening indiscriminate firing during a cordon and search operation (CASO) along the Jaie-Gandoh road in Bhaderwah. During the operation, the Indian forces also detained a religious preacher.

The communication blackout is seen as an attempt by the occupation authorities to prevent information about the killing from reaching people and to suppress possible public protests against the incident.
