NC holds protest in New Delhi demanding restoration of IIOJK statehood

New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference staged a protest sit-in in the Indian capital to demand the restoration of full statehood to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, NC workers and youth leaders from Ganderbal assembled at Jantar Mantar, while party MLAs held a separate demonstration on Prithviraj Road.
The protesters raised slogans including “Statehood wapis kro” and carried placards pressing for the return of IIOJK’s statehood. Addressing the gathering, NC leaders said, “Our march is not for power, but for the restoration of the democratic rights of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. We leave with one voice and one demand. Restore full Statehood.”
A team from Kishtwar district also participated in the protest. It was led by MP Sajjad Kichloo and former DDC Chairperson Pooja Thakur. The NC high command organised the demonstration as part of its campaign to press New Delhi to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir, which was downgraded to a union territory in August 2019.
