Indian authorities demolish two more houses amid sweeping crackdown in IIOJK
Srinagar : Continuing their repressive actions against Kashmiris, Indian authorities have demolished two residential houses in Islamabad district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as part of an intensified crackdown in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian authorities, acting under the orders of New Delhi-installed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, razed the ancestral houses of activists Aadil Thokar in Bijbehara and Haroon Ganai in Hassanpora area of the district.
The demolitions came a day after a head constable of Indian Reserve Police (IRP) 3rd Battalion was killed in an attack in the Lal Chowk areas of south Kashmir’s Islamabad town on Wednesday.
The house demolitions are part of the occupation authorities’ campaign of collective punishment targeting pro-freedom activists and their families in IIOJK.
Following Wednesday’s attack, Indian forces launched a massive crackdown across the Kashmir Valley, arresting at least 3,000 innocent Kashmiris. The occupation authorities have also tightened restrictions by deploying additional troops at sensitive locations, establishing more checkpoints and erecting extra barricades, while frisking and search operations have been intensified across the territory.
