Rahul Gandhi presents pellet gun-injured student before media in Delhi

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi presented a student injured by pellet gun fire during the recent student protests before the media in New Delhi, condemning the government’s excessive use of force against peaceful demonstrators.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Haryana student Sahil, who sustained pellet injuries during the protests, was presented at a press conference held at Rahul Gandhi’s residence on Janpath in the Indian capital.

Rahul Gandhi said lethal pellet guns had been used against students staging peaceful protests, leaving many with serious eye injuries. He termed the treatment meted out to the country’s youth and students as a matter of grave concern, saying they were subjected to brutal baton charges and intimidation instead of being heard.

He demanded an immediate end to violence, assaults and intimidation against students, the withdrawal of cases registered against them, and justice for those affected.

Rahul Gandhi also called for the resignation of Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, describing him as a “criminal education minister.” He said the use of pellet guns against students was unacceptable and urged the government to engage with the students’ demands and address issues confronting the education sector rather than attempting to suppress their voices through force.
