CJP warns Modi regime against ‘weaponising’ SC order to target student protesters
If harassment continues, we will hit streets again, says Cockroach Janta Party
New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has warned the BJP-led Modi government against using a Supreme Court interim order to continue criminal cases against student protesters, calling it a betrayal of the government’s “solemn assurance” to withdraw all protest-related FIRs.
According to Kashmir Media Service, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke on Tuesday posted on X: “If the harassment of students at the hands of the police continues, the Cockroach Janta Party will respond with a massive peaceful protest soon. The Govt must stop targeting and witch-hunting students.”
The party’s strong reaction came after the Supreme Court on July 28 allowed states to continue investigations in existing FIRs related to nationwide student protests, while barring coercive action against students with no criminal antecedents. CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said Direction No. 4 of the order directly contradicts the assurance allegedly given by the Government of India on July 25, on the basis of which the CJP called off its nationwide agitation.
“It stands in direct contradiction to the solemn assurance and guarantee extended by the Government of India to the youth of this nation on July 25, 2026, namely, that the FIRs would be withdrawn and that no protester would be directly or indirectly targeted,” Das said. He accused the Centre and BJP-ruled states of seeking to “use and weaponise this order” to keep cases alive against protesters. “This was precisely our concern from day one: that courts could be used, directly or indirectly, to achieve political ends by targeting peaceful dissent,” he added.
Das demanded that the government formally place its July 25 assurances before the Supreme Court and warned that failure to withdraw FIRs would force the CJP to resume protests.
“A solemn public assurance given to thousands of young students and protesters cannot be diluted or rendered meaningless. Failing this… the streets of India will once again become the voice of its young,” he said.
