Indian police attach properties of four activists in Ramban under UAPA
Jammu : Indian police under the New Delhi-installed LG administration have attached properties of four activists in Ramban district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the attached properties worth lakhs of rupees include lands belonging to Ghulam Rasool, Abdul Latief Naik, Abdul Rashid and Mushtaq Ahmed in Kundan Khari, Koot Khari and Banihal areas of the district.
Justifying the attachment of properties of Kashmiris using black laws, an Indian police spokesman claimed the attachment was carried out under the draconian Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
Locals have complained that property seizures have become a new tactic, adding to the countless methods of repression used to control and suppress Kashmiris. Black laws effectively grant Indian forces sweeping powers to arrest, detain and kill Kashmiris without trial, while also allowing them to confiscate properties with complete impunity.
Since the abrogation of the special status of occupied Kashmir in August 2019, the BJP-led Hindutva regime has intensified its campaign to dispossess Kashmiris of their homes and lands.
The move is aimed at harassing and economically weakening the people of occupied Kashmir. This year alone, the BJP regime has confiscated more than a hundred properties belonging to Kashmiris.
