Struggle for restoration of IIOJK’s special constitutional status will continue: NC leader
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar has said the party will continue its struggle for the restoration of the territory’s special constitutional status, statehood and the democratic rights of its people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ali Mohammad Sagar made these remarks while addressing a meeting at the party headquarters in Srinagar.
He said the National Conference remains fully committed to safeguarding the interests, sentiments and constitutional rights of the people of IIOJK. He added that the party had organized peaceful protests from New Delhi to Srinagar, Jammu and all district headquarters to reiterate its demand for the restoration of the territory’s special constitutional position and remind the BJP-led Indian government of its repeated commitment to restore statehood.
Sagar said the purpose of holding Assembly elections remains incomplete without the restoration of full statehood, as most key powers continue to remain with the New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor rather than the elected government.
He said the people of IIOJK voted to establish a democratically elected government after years of bureaucratic rule, but the continued denial of statehood has created a dual system of governance, leading to growing public disappointment and eroding trust in the democratic process.
