BJP must answer on statehood, reservations, governance: Tanvir Sadiq

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference MLA and chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq has hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party, saying the party must explain the delay in restoring statehood to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Sadiq questioned the “drama and theatrics” while people were still waiting for their constitutional rights.

“After two years, the simple question remains: where is statehood? They promised delimitation, elections and then restoration of statehood. Elections have happened, but statehood is still nowhere in sight,” he said. He also questioned why files and decisions on reservation-related issues concerning Kashmir remained unresolved.

On allegations of backdoor appointments, Sadiq called for a thorough and impartial probe.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir are not asking for slogans. They are asking for their rights. They want statehood restored, their constitutional dignity respected and their political voice strengthened,” Sadiq added.
