Praise Modi or be labelled as ‘Naxal’ under BJP regime: Tony

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior Congress leader and former DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony, condemned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Dimaagi Naxal” remark, saying the BJP government is branding every questioning man as anti-India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Tony said the Modi’s message was clear: “praise the government and you are a patriot; question its policies and you become a ‘Dimaagi Naxal’.” He termed it “the language of an insecure and authoritarian government terrified of public scrutiny.
“Referring to Modi’s Independence Day address, Tony alleged the expression was deliberately vague and could be weaponised against students, farmers, journalists, activists and ordinary citizens who challenge the government.
“Disagreement with Narendra Modi is not sedition, criticism of a policy is not extremism, and peaceful protest is not an attack on India,” he said.
Tony further said that instead of addressing legitimate concerns over E20 petrol, government supporters were labeling critics as anti-national. He added that Gen Z and student-led protests over unemployment and paper leaks have shaken the Modi government’s confidence.
